Artificial Intelligence: Impacts of self-learning systems

Many people are worried about the rapid improvement of artificial intelligence. They are afraid that the machines will take over the work of human staff. Scientists now go even one step further and present a KI that is able to teach other KIs new tasks. Get the most important informations about this new progress here.

Now you may think: If robots teach other robots how to work then several industrial fields are in danger.

An experiment of the Google Braun IT research group now presented a new software design which gives engines the ability to learn new things. The result is impressive and outgoes the previous findings of the KI-research.

KI is enhanced worldwide

In the past few months, different research institutes showed incredible advance in developing neural learning softwares – among these also the nonprofit research institute “OpenAI”, that was founded by Elon Musk, the MIT and Google’s “DeepMind”.

If autonomously learning KIs are becoming a real thing (what probably will happen), automatic learning softwares could soon be used in the economic system.

The reason for self-learning systems

The idea of those self-learning systems is not as new as it may seem. But until now, experiments didn’t show results that could keep up with human know how. “It is exciting”, says Yoshua Bengio, professor at the university of Montreal. She’s studying the idea of self-learning systems since the 90s.

Bengio assumes that the intense processing power that is required for those KIs now is finally available. Also Otkrist Gupta, a scientist of the MIT, was inspired by the contemporary possibilities to work on a project for self-learning models.

Gupta announced that corporations and scientists are very motivated to find a way to make automated learning handy.

Impacts of arificial intelligence on occupational fields

Various KI solutions could really result in the question wether some vocational fields are still necessary or not – at least that’s the opinion of some scientists. But there are also reasons to believe that the use of KIs could create new workplaces, at least in some economy sectors.

For mentally challenging jobs the KIs offer the possibility to hand over certain processes, analysis and duties are to machines. Thus these vocational fields could have more time to process different projects or to fulfill strategic tasks.

However, organizations and individuals should be ready for the increasing role of KI at workplaces. They should welcome new professions, adopt new skill enhancements and gradually say goodby to sheer manual activities – at least in the industry.
