Business model 2.0: Trade fair constructionist WWM goes for cloud solutions

Trade fair constructionist WWM is now using cloud solutions. Thereby the company benefits from digitization: These cloud solutions help WWM to establish itself as a provider for live communication on demand and to become more agile.

WWM combines two things that make the company special in comparison to other trade fair constructionists: Next to an outstanding expertise based on 35 years of experience, the company is open to innovation and digital transformation. Therefore the trade fair constructionist  has also established itself as a provider for live-communication. WWM is following digitization consequently and has high goals: The company wants to become the most agile one in its industry.

Agility via modern working models: Office 365 & Windows 10

In order to meet their own requirements, WWM needs modern working models. With the relocation of all essential software applications to the Microsoft Cloud, WWM will be able to flexibly adapt its own workstations to its employees. Office 365 is already used since years and allows WWM employees to collaborate  across different locations and via all mobile devices. Because of the high volume of events (approx. 2,500 a year), this flexibility is of critical importance for the trade fair and event industry. Now the company also switched to Windows 10.

“With the combination of Windows 10 and Office 365, small and medium-sized companies have the best prerequisites to drive their own digital transformation straight forward – always secure,” said Gregor Bieler, general manager for the SME and business partner at Microsoft Germany.

Digital focus

With the event resource management software “myWWM” running on the basis of Microsoft Azure, WWM has created an offer that did not exist on the market before. Using the cloud solution, customers have the ability to manage marketing resources, Additionally they can plan and execute classic offline marketing campaigns such as trade fairs and events. In addition, “myWWM” stand operators can automatically record visitor flows at events and use the KPI-based evaluation of events in the Business Intelligence module of the software.

“Moreover we expand the live-communication of our customers to online by addressing the homogeneous target group of the exhibitors covered by the event via retargeting”, says Dr. Christian Coppeneur-Gülz, CEO of WWM.

High IT security via Windows 10

When switching to the cloud, security requirements must be considered. Therefore, WWM uses the BitLocker drive encryption and BitLocker to Go, which are an integral part of Windows 10. Thus, data thefts can be prevented. By using Windows 10 Pro and Microsoft Intune, it is also possible to encrypt company data and delete it from a distance in case of an emergency. A safe and flexible working environment is therefore guaranteed.

A further building block for the agility of the company is the usage of Surface Pro 4 devices. The associated mobility is particularly relevant for the dispatch and commissioning of the free exhibition rental systems by the 25 logistics employees. The surface devices are also used regularly by the sales staff. In the future, all 75 employees shall be equipped with the Surface Pro 4 devices.
