44 MILLION USERS A DAY: VIDEOCONFERENCE TOOLS are BOOMING due to CORONA
Remote work is now part of everyday life: New figures from Microsoft teams prove this, as the video conferencing tool currently has 44 million users per day. The world is digitalizing in a flash.
While the global economy is suffering from the consequences of the pandemic, the IT industry as a whole is benefiting from the current situation, at least in the long run. Around the world, companies and public authorities are being forced to digitalize a large part of their processes.
This is most obvious among providers of video conferencing and home office services. The output restrictions that have been in place in Europe and other parts of the world since the beginning of March are pushing employees into the home office and there is only one way to maintain communication: digital tools.
12 million new users in a week – Microsoft teams
In one week alone Microsoft recorded a leap from 32 million users to 44 million users (between 11th and 18th March).
This corresponds to an increase of 37 percent. Compared to November 2019, the number of users has almost doubled.
As a service provider for group work, the software giant has overtaken its competitor Slack by a huge margin in the last few months, which can be seen in the explosive user numbers.
Only half a year ago Slack dominated the market in this area.
How the user numbers continue to develop and what influence the current situation will have on the work structure after the Corona crisis remains an exciting observation.
